First, a confession. Camping is not on my list of 1000 things to do before I die. I love the outdoors, enjoy hiking, would love to go mountain climbing at some point. I just can't bring myself to sleep in a tent. When I was nine, I was sent to camp by well-meaning parents and spent one night sleeping in a tent in a rainstorm (there were lots of spiders involved too) and have never been able to get back in another tent since.
Today I was running some advertsements for a property I have listed. It is a condo located in a resort area and has been used as a weekly vacation rental for the past few years. It is a great property and requires some unique marketing to effectively convey the 'investment/vacation rental' opportunity it presents.
At some point today, my husband convinced me to go with him to the store to pick up a few things. I try to do my shopping early on weekday mornings to avoid crowds so my dear husband had to do a bit of convincing to get me to join him. I'm so glad I did.
We were walking down the beverage aisle and noticed a display of tents. Odd place to sell tents, but whatever works. The funny thing is, the tents were labled as "Vacation Homes". Seriously.
A fine display of creative marketing. Further down the aisle were small hibachi-style barbecues. We decided those must be the stoves that go with the Vacation Homes.
